Record a guitar while the metronome bangs

Hi everybody

I read many topics about how to hack a microphone in a Palm. Hard-core ones :

http://www.dominik.chmaj.net/mic/index2.php

And soft-core ones :

(There are even commercial products)

Hey, there are Treo's, and Centro's, and many other Palms that *can* record audio signal.

What I'd like to do is to plug some source into my Palm. Some Hi-Z source. Maybe my pre-amplified acoustic guitar. Is it even possible ?

Because if it is, I'd happily buy a hotsync connector, and solder me a 2.5mm mono audio jack adapter to record my guitar in the field w/ my Palm. I'm ready to discover that a plain solid-body electric guitar does'nt deliver enough signal to be worth considering. But I have my trusty (korean) electro-acoustic Fender handy. What do you guys think ?

I guess my question really is : How different are the two signals ? Another way to rephrase it : Will I blow my Palm if I try to simply swap the mic (two wires) with a jack plug ?

Best of all record your guitar in a notebook or desktop computer and make it mp3, then load it in your SD card, you can make lots of samples in a 1 hour session and you don't need to modify your Palm.
You can achieve better quality this way.
I hope it helps.
Saludos and good luck from Argentina!
